Being Available Minister: Pastor Barbra

Main Scripture

Jeremiah 29:13: “And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.”

1. Understanding Availability

Being available means having a heart that is willing to do whatever is asked of you without excuses. When God calls, He looks for a person who is truly ready.

  • God’s Requirement: God cannot use an unavailable man.

  • The Problem of Occupation: Being “too busy” is a major hindrance to serving God.

  • God’s Timing: You do not answer God on your own schedule; you must answer at the exact time He calls. All those used by God in the Bible were people who made themselves available.

2. Sacrifice and Trust

Serving God requires sacrifice. To be used by Him, you must be willing to give up certain things.

  • Building Relationship: This sacrifice builds a bridge of trust—not only from God to man but also from man to God.

3. Overcoming Hindrances

The devil’s strategy is to distract believers with “nonsense” and time-wasting issues to keep them from their purpose. He often uses common excuses such as:

  • “I don’t have the right clothes or shoes.

  • “I didn’t have electricity.”

  • “I was on call/at work.”

The goal of these distractions is to make you “too busy” for God’s use. As believers, we must actively identify and remove anything that stops us from being available when He calls.

4. Fulfilling the Call

The call of God upon our lives can only be fulfilled when we make ourselves available. The purpose God has for you requires your presence and your “Yes.”

Note: Indications of Availability

You can tell you are truly available to God when you give priority to:

  1. Your Prayer Life: Consistent communication with the Father.

  2. Your Fasting Life: Disciplining the flesh to hear the Spirit.

  3. Your Service in Church: Being active in the House of God.

  4. The Word of God: Making Scripture your foundation.
